Community building for the young migrants through arts and acquaintance with the history and culture of the Czech Republic. Lectures on photography and writing, travels and sightseeing with professional guides.
The project is supported by European Solidarity Corps, which offer young people the opportunity to help those in need, to take part in solving societal problems and to work for a more inclusive society. At the same time, it offers the opportunity to gain new skills and work experience, which will improve their position in the labour market.

Our Solidarity project aims to acquainting young migrants of Prague with the history and culture of the Czech Republic. And also gain the knowledge and skills in photography and writing texts. All for free!

Participation fee?
The program of the project will contain 3 courses with 3 enrollments for 10-15 participants per each.
The course consists of 11 lectures divided into sections, each of which will take place once every two weeks:
Section 1
Lecture 1: Creating photos. Within this session, the participants will obtain main photography skills and learn about the equipment needed for different types of shooting, how to amplify its work, the types of lights and how to place it for a better picture.
Lecture 2: Writing text and creating an interesting story. Within this session, the participants will obtain basic skills of writing articles or essays on the topic of travel, meeting new cultures and people.
Lecture 3: This lesson will introduce the basic information about the Czech Republic, introduction to UNESCO world heritage sites, information about the climate, nature, political structure of the country, about opportunities for travel and active sports, study and work in general. In addition, there will be a presentation of migrant situation in CR and open discussion over the positive and negative sights on this topic within the country, the introduction of the task for research and group identification of the deeper problems unseen for the general public.
Section 2
Lecture 4: History of the Czech lands in the form of travel and sightseeing with professional guides. This section will provide knowledge over the period of the formation of the Czech state and the Kingdom of Bohemian, Medieval times, personalities Karl 4, Jan Hus etc.
Section 3
Lecture 5: History of the Czech lands in the form of travel and sightseeing with professional guides. During this lesson the participants will get acquainted with the period when the Czech Republic was part of Habsburg Monarchy.
Section 4
Lecture 6: History of the Czech lands in the form of sightseeing with professional guides. This section will provide knowledge over the period of modern times - century of Czech independence. In addition, reflection group will be organized with the participants for common reading brainstorming for the improvements. Afterward, there is a part of choosing by the participants one of the topics from the presentations made earlier for writing and finishing the first draft of the article about the Czech Republic.
Lesson 7: This section will introduce the participants opportunities to get acquainted with the national culture through creativity: literature, painting, photography. For the practical part, there will be presentation of the national cultures of the participants, open discussion over the values of solidarity, diversity, participation, equity, inclusion, empathy, tolerance etc.
Section 5
Lecture 8: Cultural life of the country in the form sightseeing with professional guides. This section will provide knowledge about Czech music and visual arts, participants will be acquainted with the personalities of great composers and artists.
Section 6
Lecture 9: Cultural life of the country in the form sightseeing with professional guides. During the lesson the participants will be presented with Czech literature and theatrical art.
Section 7
Lecture 10: Cultural life of the country in the form sightseeing with professional guides. During the lesson the participants will get acquainted with the peculiarities of Czech cuisine and gastronomy. Travel options: excursion to the brewery or winery.
Lecture 11: Reflection group with the participants for sharing the arrangements they would make for the article they have written.
We hope that a supportive atmosphere of lectures and with time and space to practice, sightseeing with professionals can become a productive and inviting environment for the young migrants to believe in themself and become better in the art of writing and photo shooting.
We are sure that this project will provide young foreigners of Prague creative space and meaningful leisure time activities which could help young migrants acquaintance with the culture and history of the Czech Republic and promising teamwork and friendships, which will help the participants to integrate.
